Yumiko Mori

  • ·  Yumiko Mori graduated from Saint Mary's College, California, with a psychology/education major. She is a Certified Montessori teacher (AMS) and taught at pre-schools in Hawaii and California. At UCLA, she majored in comparative education and joined Japanese toy maker TOMY in the midst of her doctorate program at UCLA. At TOMY, she managed the pre-school development toy section. She joined the MIT Media Lab as TOMY manager and later became a visiting scientist and joined the Toy of Tomorrow consortium. She planned and started the R&D Center of Workshops for Children in Kyoto in April 2001, sponsored by CSK. At the MIT Media Lab, she started the project Pangaea to create a universal playground in cyberspace, where children across the globe can connect. NPO Pangaea was officially founded in 2003 and registered in Japan. She has been the co-founder and Chairman since the organization was established.
